Peter Cábocky
painting
I'd like to think that my work denounces craft, finish, precision, virtuosity and even ambition. I take a rather more imaginative and playful approach to the medium of oil painting, that is considered to be old fashioned. My constant questioning of how much work really is needed to make an artwork, is something I thrive on. My aim is to observe and question things with intensity but to leave them unresolved, without conclusion, to avoid being predictable and going down well known paths. This materialises in the constant revisions within the picture, re-painting the layers and layers of the previous compositions which finally gives my paintings a subtle vibrating energy.
